To stretch my skills I have been trying to enter a few assignment ideas on some of the flickr forums. So with this in mind I picked one called ‘flight’ and remembering some bird photos by Brandon Fuller I decided to try his technique. It involves a bird feeder and background with the camera hidden in a window of the house. Wonderful photos and you get to stay warm while waiting.
Well….. after a trip to the store for a new feeder and seeds etc. I got it all set up and waited, and waited, and waited. So now three days have passed and the feeder is still full and real lonely. I even have kept all the cats in the house for the last three days. I can handle rejection from a lot of things like critics and sentient beings, but you know you are doing something wrong when Mother Nature gives you the cold shoulder. In fact since the feeder went up I haven’t seen one bird even close to the property. So I am beginning to think this may be an exercise in patience, I’m pretty sure there are hungry birds out there and somehow I haven’t hit on the right advertising campaign. Once again it is all about the marketing, so if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments.
I finally bit the bullet and switched from a Windows smart phone to the new Iphone 3g. As this is the first Apple product I have ever bought things didn’t go all that well, figures huh? I managed to get one that the hardware was bad on, it would only stay on if it was plugged in. So back the 50 miles to exchange it (less than 24 hrs), only to be told that only an Apple store can do the exchange> Apple Policy. Did a work around that cost me another $20 in restock fees and got a phone that works.
The upshot is I don’t really understand how Apple expects to win converts if they don’t allow their vendors support the product. It is a $70 trip to the closest Apple store or I have to ship it to Apple. What the!!!! is with that. Last Apple I buy.
All that being said I am happy with the phone and it does have several useful apps for photogs from the app store. I’ll see if I am still happy with it after testing reception on the road. Most of it’s good functions involve being on-line.
More to come on this I am sure.

5 Things You’ll Learn from Chase Jarvis (besides wearing All Stars)
I admire the hell out of Chase Jarvis’s work and his willingness to share with others. If I was to make new years resolutions this list would be a good one to adopt.

It pays to revisit photos after some time has passed, there may be some that were givin a pass the first time around that on a second look are worth keeping.
